Each of these timelines has direct influence over the game play. I personally found the campaign found in Port Royale 4 to be very complex and hard to get into but the Buccaneer mode cuts this down to a much more focused experience which may be more to. You are given the option to choose between 4 different times in history – 1570, 1600, 1630 or 1660. Port Royale places the player within real historic locations. It's like if Pirates of the Caribbean 6 was just three hours of Captain Jack. It's a game set in the era of pirates with nary a hint of swashing nor buckling. You will be able to buy maps to hidden treasures, find secret pirate hovels, trade between all 60 available cities, build up your own business or become a pirate! And whatever you choose sooner or later you will participate in beautiful sea battles. Port Royale 4's gameplay consists almost entirely of all of the bits in other strategy games that you'd normally set to 'Automate' because they're fiddly and boring.
